I am using this forum as a place where anyone can share how breast cancer has impacted their life.  I am also using this as a launching pad to get the word out that buying something pink doesn't necessarily mean you're supporting breast cancer.

Over the last several years we have bee inundated with the message that buying pink is the best way to help those touched by breast cancer.  I worry though that we've somehow lost sight of the true path.  I think it's awesome that it's been made so easy simply by manner of purchase.  The problem I see, however, is that when one starts blindly buying in to the hype then one loses sight of where that money is going.

When you buy a t-shirt that's pink, an "I love boobies" bracelet (regardless of color), cereal with a pink tagline or whatever else - do you really know where your money is going?  Have you read anything that tells you how much, what and where that money is going?  Did you spend $ 25.00 on a pink t-shirt only to find out that $ 24.50 of it goes to the person who sold it?  Or, in some cases, all of it goes to the vendor or corporation.  We need to get smart about how we put our money and support out there because it's not just money - it's our heart, our souls, our tears, our hugs and our love too.  Let's not sell ourselves short.

So my advice to all of you is this:  "Think before you Pink!".  Buy whatever you want that's pink, but if you're doing it to support the cause, do a little research to make sure you're money is going where you want it to.
